Common Ground 2 | AkzoNobel Art Space 2018-2020
The ultimate human space is the space between us. There we find and create domains to interact with and confirm our existence through the other. This common ground has been the subject of art since time immemorial.
In our rapidly urbanizing world, the cityscape is the primary focus for interaction. Juxtaposed to the man-made reality of the city stands nature, which we - as thinking animals - are part of. Besides the physical, we also meet in the realms of ideas, ideals and identity.
The artworks in this exhibition explore the meaning and impact of various manifestations of common ground. Moreover, the works constitute common ground too, connecting artists and audiences. The exhibition space as a whole functions as a multi-level meeting point. Life outside connects of AkzoNobel’s corporate and creative reality, and the artworks provide windows onto the world we share and shape: common ground.
